SUMMARY: Stole $4,735 over six month period A Nashville woman who stole from a school field trip fund faces up to 12 months in prison after pleading to one count of theft by deception. Kathryn D. Hoffman, 56, 6121 County Road 52, pleaded guilty to the charge Monday July 23 in Holmes County Common Pleas Court. According to court records, Hoffman stole $4,735 from a fund that pays for the West Holmes eighth grade class trip to Washington, D.C. Hoffman stole the money between January, 2012, to June 13. The theft was detected after the fund was found to be running in the red. Hoffman has since paid the money back. Hoffman was employed by West Holmes as a secretary and has since resigned from her position. Common Pleas Judge Robert D. Rinfret ordered a pre-sentence investigation and scheduled for sentencing Sept. 19. Theft by deception is a fifth degree felony and carried up to 12 months in prison and a $2,500 fine.
