SUMMARY: Several of the positions were hired in-house. A total of seven faculty at West Holmes have been shifted into new positions, after most of the vacancies caused by resignations of three top administrators in June were filled in-house. Acting Superintendent Bill Sterling recommended seven new hires at a July 8 meeting of the West Holmes School Board. In attendance were Renee Woods and Brian Baughman, who Sterling moved into the curriculum and federal programs director and Killbuck principal positions, respectively. Sterling was hired as superintendent by the board June 23 to replace Superintendent Kris Perone, who resigned June 16. Sterling was previously the high school principal. Curriculum and federal programs director Lori Robson and cafeteria supervisor Dixie Gray also resigned June 16. The vacancies left Sterling, in his new role, to fill his former position as well as those vacated by Gray and Robson. Sterling said most of the positions were filled in-house. “It has been a very busy couple of weeks,” Sterling said. Sterling hired Killbuck Principal Aaron Kaufman as high school principal; former high school assistant principal Brian Baughman will fill the Killbuck principal position. Carrie Maltarich will move into the high school assistant principal position. Diana McMillen will take over as Clark principal after Woods took the curriculum and federal programs director position. Middle School head cook Dawn Martin will take over the cafeteria supervisor position vacated by Gray. Cherrie Tyson will fill Martin’s position at the middle school. The board further hired Scott Vaughn for physical education and Lisa Macaulay as a central office secretary. Maltarich, Martin, and McMillen were hired on three year contracts. Macauley, Tyson and Vaughn were hired on one-year contracts. The contract terms of Baughman, Kaufman, and Woods will continue under their current contracts, Sterling said. Sterling’s contract as superintendent officially begins Aug. 1.
