SUMMARY: Four count indictment brought by grand jury; assistant prosecutor says more charges may follow A Millersburg man tied to at least least 50 burglaries in Holmes County has been charged by the grand jury in a four count indictment. Jeremy L. Johnson, 30, 3416 state Route 83, is charged in Holmes County Common Pleas Court with grand theft of a firearm, receiving stolen property, breaking and entering and theft. He faces up to five years in prison on the most serious charge. The four counts stem from August 16, when Johnson allegedly stole tools and a firearm. Johnson is one of three individuals who allegedly participated in more than 110 burglaries in Holmes and Coshocton counties over the course of three years. Lance Mann, 38, Big Prairie, has been arrested by Coshocton County sheriff’s deputies on similar charges and Jason Mann, 34, Shreve, is wanted in connection with the burglaries but has so far eluded police. Holmes County Sheriff Tim Zimmerly said the three suspects may have been involved in as many as 300 burglaries over the last three years. Copper pipe and wire, tools, firearms, fishing and hunting gear were among the items stolen in the burglaries, Zimmerly said. Johnson pleaded not guilty to the charges Thursday Sept. 29. Oehl said additional charges may be brought against Johnson as the investigation progresses. The sheer number of victims has Zimmerly’s office working “very diligently” to identify additional burglaries, Oehl said. “There is a multiple county investigation that is on-going,” Oehl said. “(Deputies) are working to recover as much of the property as they can, but these breaking and entering’s have been going on for years. They are following down the second, and even sometimes third, sales of property.” A jury trial is scheduled for Nov. 7.
