Americans for Prosperity Rally warns politicians of both parties that “November is Coming!”

“There are at least 2,000 people here today,” commented Bud Lahmers of Dover, as he surveyed the crowd at the Americans for Prosperity’s ‘November is Coming’ rally, held under humid, hot skies on August 14 at the Tuscarawas County Fairgrounds in Dover. The temperatures did not seem to bother the crowd, who gathered to hear speakers who repeated the message that a non-partisan change is called for during the upcoming fall elections. Speakers from the steel, coal, and other industries encouraged the crowd to vote out any incumbents, Republican or Democrat, who are supporters of cap and trade policies, the Obama health care reform, and other hot button issues. “Anytime you hear the federal government talk about revenue enhancement, what does that mean? Higher taxes…more money coming out of your wallet, and more money going into their coffers to re-engineer society in to the way they want it to be,” said John Racey, of Greer Steel in West Virginia, as he addressed the crowd. “ November is coming, and it can’t be soon enough.” Hombre Liggett was bold in stating his reason for being at the rally. “ We have to educate people about what is going on in our country, and re-establishing the ideas and principles of our founding fathers. November is coming, and Americans for Prosperity is a bi-partisan group that is hard at work, simply to educate people. Thomas Jefferson said that a free people is an educated people, so organizations like Americans for Prosperity is working very hard to support events like this, to educate people. This is not to support any one candidate, or any one party, but to support the ideals that made this nation great. We are looking at people, and if they are not standing up for America, and standing up for the principles that our founding fathers made with then Constitution, then they need to be fired,” said Liggett emphatically. “There are only a handful of Congressional representatives that deserve to be re-elected. There are a few there, but overall, it is kind of a ‘re-elect nobody’ mentality. We have got to take back Capitol Hill.” Steve Stokey, of Allied Machine in Dover, helped to organize the event, and was also a speaker. “Honestly, it reminds me of the Revolutionary War, where a bunch of rag time guys sat in a room and said, we are going to do something,” explained Stokey. “It is amazing what they have been able to pull together to tell people, hey, maybe you are just like me, and feeling the same thing I am feeling. You know in your heart that at home you are sitting at your kitchen table, and if you can’t balance the check book, something has to be cut. If you go to work, and you know your company is spending more money than it is taking in, something has to change. When we go to Washington, D.C., there is excuse after excuse as to why we can’t do it, but quite honestly, in D.C. it is all about money…and what they can do to get (representatives) committed to government versus committed to liberty.” “I am emceeing and speaking today to educate folks and get them involved in the issues. I just came in today, out of our national Americans for Prosperity Washington office,” said Phil Kerpin. “ We are seeing a tremendous draw at our events all over the country right now. People are outraged at the direction the country is taking right now, and they are eager for groups like ours that provide the opportunity and tools to make a difference. We’re happy to work with Dick Morris at some of our events. We have used a lot of different speakers in different places. Betty Hiller of Sherrodsville attended the rally. “I believe that our country is now going down the tubes, very fast. It is up to the people now to turn this all around, and get us all back on the right track. That means jobs, jobs, jobs. We have to have jobs. The health care bill should have never have been put through like it was. We could have just had changes for improvement. We are being taxed more and more and more. It has got to stop. The back of the working man cannot take it anymore. I am afraid that we are already into socialism, to a certain extent. If this does not stop, we are going to see more and more. It is scary, really scary. My husband and I are not that worried…we are in our seventies. But I have grandkids, and great grandkids, and they are the ones I worry about. They are not going to have anything. There is so much (going on) that is unconstitutional. I am not partisan. I am for the man who is willing to work for the American people, who has the American people at heart. If it were up to me, I would boot both parties out. It is disgusting how they carry on and fight with each other. You can’t get anything done when all you do is fight with each other.”
