The Classic Glass Corvette Club had everyone cruising down memory lane at the third annual NPBCA downtown New Philadelphia car show on Saturday, September 10.
This well-tuned event was open to all makes, models, and years and began with registration at 5 pm and dash plaques presented to the first 100 cars.
Our partnership with the Classic Glass Corvette Club, said Diane Lautenschleger, administrative director of the New Philadelphia Business and Community Association, allows guests to be reminded of all that is available downtown and strengthens our mission of economic development, promotion, and marketing. The car show always takes place the second week of September when 50/50 tickets are sold benefiting the NPBCA.
The judged car show had additional sponsors Texas Roadhouse and Shook Auto, entertainment was provided by the popular Spikeman, and Pit Stop Creamery had pulled-pork sandwiches that were definitely a hit during the show.
Several decades of cars were represented at the car show. Some of the vehicles that rolled into town included a 1933 Ford, 1941 Chevy Coupe, 1956 Chevy, 1961 Studebaker Hawk, 1962 unrestored original Ford Fairlane, 1971 Corvette convertible, 1988 Cadillac Victoria, and a 2001 Ford Lightning truck with an eagle and flag painted under the hood and a memorable painting in front of the truck that read Remember the heroes of 9/11.
Roger Offenberger of New Philadelphia brought some ghoulish fun to the car show with his Cadillac hearse that his wife and he calls the Monster Mash, complete with monsters and a coffin.
This is our first time at this show, said Offenberger. I also have another hearse. Its a 1990 Cadillac Supreme that Ill be turning into a limo that should be ready next year.
Mike and Patty Mastitti from Canton brought their 1956 Chevy.
This is our first year here, said Patty. Mike did everything himself on our yellow and silver Chevy except the interior. It took him seven years. This is our third summer touring around.
One of the favorites was the Best of Show-Bud Hoffmans 1964 Ford.
I retired three years ago, said Hoffman, who is from North Lawrence, and worked on my truck every day. It took four years, and its the first vehicle Ive ever painted. I also have a 1938 Ford.
In addition to Hoffmans Best of Show, the following top five who were contending for Best Show winning Diamond Awards were: Chuck and Char Devolt from Barnsville with their 32 Ford, Mike Mastitti from Canton with his 56 Chevy, Jerry Cole from Uhrichsville with his 54 Willys Overland, Dwight Zurcher from Stonecreek with his 69 Charger R/T, and Dan Foutz of Gnadenhutten with his 64 Chevy C10.
