As part of the Historic Downtown Millersburg holiday season kick-off, children of all ages are invited to attend the fun-filled Children’s Night on Friday, Dec. 17 from 6-8:00 p.m. in downtown Millersburg. There will be plenty of fun activities to help the kids create a lasting holiday memory. “Children’s Night in the past has been great,” said Tara McCulloch, Historic Downtown Millersburg Events and Promotions Coordinator. “Last year was just really excellent and a lot of the activities were very popular.” Most of all the different merchants around town will be offering various activities and refreshments for the kids to enjoy. One of the popular activities from last year that McCulloch was referring to was gingerbread house decorating at Kaufman Realty. This was so popular that, they ran out of materials. “I talked to the lady in charge and she said they have more materials for this year,” McCulloch said. Historic Downtown Millersburg merchants participating in Children’s Night include; Amish Country Essentials, Shaker House Antiques, Young Music & Sound, Kaufman Realty, Starlight Antiques, Young Uniforms & Scrubs, True Value Hardware, Village Antiques, Simply Smiles Photography & Chrapowicki Property Maintenance, The Antique Emporium, The Jewelry Store, The Hotel Millersburg, The Bookworms Café and Walnut Creek Candle. Activities during Children’s Night will range from ornament making and Christmas bingo, to storytelling and designing bath salts as a gift for mom or dad. Santa will also be back in town visiting The Bookworms Café and reviewing wish lists, so the kids will want to make sure they have been good boys and girls this year so they are on Santa’s “nice” list. The winner of the Historic Downtown Millersburg children’s coloring contest from the holiday kick-off on Nov. 26, will also be announced at Bookworms Café and other prizes will be awarded. Children do not need to be present for the announcement. “This is just a fun community event for kids to do Christmas activities,” McCulloch said. “It’s a fun night.” McCulloch said that carriage rides will also be available throughout the evening for $5, all weather permitting. The rides will depart from The Hotel Millersburg.
