“Come try us on” By Patricia M. Albrecht Runway Rags, a unique woman’s boutique in the old Goshen Dairy building on Second Street in New Philadelphia, encourages shoppers to come in and try on the latest styles from some of today’s top fashion designers. The boutique began in 2001 with the late Molly Demuth who believed women should have a fun experience looking for that special outfit. Molly’s vision continues to be carried out by her husband Jim Demuth, store manager Becky Compton, and fashion consultants Denise Zeigler, Mary Pat McQuillen, Stephanie Sanda, and Lynn O’Donnell. “We want our customers to have a personal shopping experience,” said Compton. “Special attention and customer service differentiates us from other clothing stores. We work with women putting together outfits that make them look and feel great.” From cocktail dresses to everyday wear, Runway Rags carries a wide variety of clothing and accessories such as purses, jewelry, scarves, and sunglasses. “Our brands,” adds Compton, “include Tribal, Frank Lyman, Susie Chin, Maggie London, Jag, and Not Your Daughter’s Jeans. We are also the only dealer in the Dover, New Philadelphia area who carries the Brighton brand.” The fashion consultants at Runway Rags care about how the clothes look on their customers and strive to find just the right outfit that works for each individual. “We are honest,” said Compton, “and will tell you what looks good on you. If we get something in that our customers might particularly like, we will also give them a call.” Runway Rags can do special ordering if they don’t have the size needed, and they also provide something most stores don’t-they will open up the store for private shopping experiences. Fashion shows occur twice a year at the Country Club. They recently held the spring show and the Fall fashion show takes place during the month of October. The stylish atmosphere, large dressing rooms, and carefully displayed items enhance the relaxing shopping experience that showcases fine apparel at its best. “We have had our customers say the clothes they purchase at Runway Rags are definitely noticed,” said Compton. “People often ask our patrons where the dresses and outfits they are wearing come from.” For your fine apparel personal shopping experience, telephone Runway Rags at: 330-364-8249 or visit their website at: www.runwayrags.com
