Dover Band preview
Strike up the bands at Crater for annual Dover Band Preview
Marching band music will once again fill the air around Crater Stadium in Dover, on Saturday, September 10.
The Dover High School Marching Tornadoes will host the 40th Annual Dover Band Preview on Saturday, September 10. The show will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Crater Stadium.
According to Dover Marching Tornadoes Band Director Micah Carrick final preparations are underway for the fall classic.
Over the years, the Dover Band Preview has become a fall tradition and we expect the audience to enjoy a beautiful evening once again this year with our fine high school musicians.
This year, the band that will be in attendance will perform an exciting show, giving audience members an opportunity to listen to area bands.
We're excited to have several fine bands from the area including Newcomerstown, Sandy Valley and Garaway join us, as well as our friends from Milan, Ohio, the Edison Charger Band, stated Carrick.
The show will open with each band featured in a traditional Pass-in-Review. Observing the 10th anniversary of the events of September 11, 2001, a moment of reflection will be held followed by local vocalist Ron Barkett singing the National Anthem and God Bless America.
Visiting bands will present their respective performances and receive a beautiful plaque to commemorate their participation.
While the Dover director is not revealing the Marching Tornadoes entire performance for the review, he noted that the Dover Band will be presenting a new show for the Band Show, which will include a hit by Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, entitled "Mambo Swing." This will be a night you won't want to miss, promised Carrick.
A beautiful souvenir program will be available the night of the event. The program features pictures of each section of the Dover Band and includes a three-page color foldout of the entire group. Gary Petricola, President of WJER Radio, will be the Master of Ceremonies.
A limited number of commemorative 40th annual Dover Band Preview t-shirts will be sold at the event. In addition there will be a 50-50 drawing, as well as a concession stand open during the event.
Presale tickets for the event are $5. Presale tickets can be purchased at the high school office or band office during ticket sale hours, and at Uncommon Grounds in downtown Dover, Buehlers Parkside and WJER Radio on the Boulevard. Tickets will be sold for $6 at the door the night of the show.
In the event of rain, the show will be moved to the Dover High School Auditorium.
