Every good and perfect gift is from above

Summary: Do you think all the evil that Satan wants to do has to get God’s approval first? Amber uses scripture to disprove that theory. It seems to me that everyone seems to base this doctrine of God controlling everything on Job. Now I am by no means an expert on Job, so I don’t want to get into it too much. But I can tell you that God isn’t sitting at a desk in Heaven, while Satan approaches Him for His permission to wreak havoc on God’s children. And God either says, “Ok, go ahead.” Or “No, not this time.” I think many people have this view of God. Let me give you a verse that throws that whole logic out the window. First of all, we have a covenant now with God through the blood of Jesus. And through this New Covenant, God says in James 1:13: Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He himself tempt anyone. Wow, did you get that? God CANNOT BE TEMPTED BY EVIL, NOR DOES HE HIMSELF TEMPT ANYONE. Thinking that Satan has to come to God and get His permission to do evil is absolutely false. It cannot and does not happen. God CANNOT be tempted by evil, nor does He tempt anyone. God even knew that people would be deceived into believing this wrong doctrine, because He said a few verses later in verses 16-17: Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning. I am telling you, just like the Bible states – do not be deceived! God only gives good gifts. God doesn’t cause or allow all these tragedies going on. God only gives good gifts! A friend I went to high school with contacted me a few months ago about a situation she was in. One of her best friends had been shot and killed by her husband and then he turned the gun on himself, all this happening in front of one of their daughters. Wow, what a complete act of evil. The reason she contacted me was because she knew I had been through some tough times and wondered if I had some scriptures that I could share with her that gave me comfort, which she could in turn share with the girls. The first thing I shared with her was that this horrifying act was not from God, it was from Satan. God was grieving for those girls, and never wanted to see them going through what they were. I felt such a strong desire to really share the truth, because I knew people would be blaming God for this. And her exact words back to me were: “That's exactly what everyone keeps saying to me is that God has a reason for allowing this to happen. And it has made me angry. I even found myself not praying because I felt so much hurt and anger. I know how I feel and can't even imagine the pain her kids are feeling. I'm so sad and it's so painful to see how much the kids are hurting. It makes it feel so much better if I can blame the devil and not God for what happened.” This, my friends, is why I am so passionate about what I am writing. I have been in her shoes, seeing bad things happening in my life, and thinking that God was allowing it. It made me angry and bitter, and tainted my view of God. I think many people are in the same situation; angry or questioning God because they think He had something to do with the bad things that have happened to them. Let me reiterate what the Bible says: Do not be deceived! God is good, and only gives good gifts to us! To be continued…. …
