Flagpole erected to honor veterans and current military personnel

When a resident of Shel Mar Estates in New Philadelphia requested new owners Hugh and David Reid that a community flagpole be put up in front of the clubhouse, the Reids were happy to oblige. The Reids, who purchased the facility on November 1, asked new managers Glendon and Wendy Smith to make the project happen, and on December 7, the anniversary of Pearl Harbor, they did just that during a community ceremony. Raising the flag was Glendon Smith, a Korean war pilot who was a prisoner of war.
Said Wendy Smith, We wanted to dedicate this flagpole to veterans of the past as well as to those who are serving now.
