Historic Downtown Millersburg is having a party, and you’re invited. It’s Girl’s Night Out! Nearly every merchant in the downtown area will be offering a special pampering activity. “This is a wonderful event for women of all ages to get out, have fun and be pampered,” says Tara McCulloch, Historic Downtown Millersburg Events and Promotions Coordinator. Girl’s Night Out is February 19 from 4-9 with carriage rides available for $5 per rider from 6-8 if the weather permits. Customers who visit all the participating merchants will be eligible to win a special prize, $150 in Millersburg Bucks! If pampering is your thing there will be spray tanning and lotions with free samples at Beauty and the Beach. Bookworm’s Café will offer updos by S&S Mane Attraction, glamour shots by Fifteen81 Photography and chair massages Active Attic by The Christian Bookstore Annex. Mini manicures at Rig & Co. will have you looking great for your next stop. The Jewelry Store will showcase paraffin hand dips. Are you in the mood for chocolate? Hotel Millersburg will have chocolate martinis and will be hosting the Holmes County Humane Society. Geneva Chocolate samples will be available at Country Essentials. Young Music and Sound is featuring a Chocolate Jazz Extravaganza with Dove Chocolate sampling by Bianca Davis and sweetheart specials throughout the store. Locally made Troyer’s chocolates will be available at Shaker House Antiques. In Balance Massage Therapy will be offer chair massages and samples of Your Choice Cheesecake by Marion Stutzman. More sweet treats will be offered at Kaufman Realty from The Amish Pie Company. The ever popular Tastefully Simple products can be sampled at Lauren’s Curl Up and Dye and Starlight Antiques. Look for other savory treats at local merchants including Heini’s Cheese and crackers and samples from Table. “With nearly every merchant downtown participating, there is something for everyone. We want to give women a chance to see what Historic Downtown Millersburg has to offer in an exciting, fun way. From live music, pampering activities to refreshments, it is a great way to see all our wonderful merchants,” says McCulloch. Girl’s Night Out merchant participants encourage guests to shop the stores from 4-9. Karaoke begins at The American Legion at 8 PM. There will also a DJ at The Millersburg Eagles beginning at 8 PM. Discounted room rates are available at both The Comfort Inn and Hotel Millersburg starting at $59.99. The Comfort Inn of Millersburg can be reached at 330-674-7400. Historic Downtown Millersburg will be taking applications for the “Queen for the Night” Contest now through February 11, 2011. It is an opportunity to honor a great woman in our community. The winner will be presented on February 19, 2011 prior to the “Girls Night Out” event taking place among the downtown merchants. The Queen for the Night contest was started in 2009 as a way to honor Mary Miller, owner of the Jewelry Store in Millersburg and founder of Girls Night Out. Queen nominees should be everyday heroes that are appreciated but deserve to be treated as a queen, even if for just one night. The judges will be looking for a woman who has a fun and energetic personality is compassionate and caring, and who is dedicated to both family and community. The contest is open to the public; nominees do not have to be from the Millersburg area. To nominate someone you think fits this description please submit a short essay of 250 words or less explaining why you feel your nominee should be honored as “Queen for the Night”.
