Summary: The Orrville Public Library is offering three special holiday programs this year, Polar Express, Gingerbread House and Reindeer Games. Main Article: The Orrville Public Library is celebrating the holidays this year with three programs for area children. First up is The Polar Express which is making a return trip this year. The meeting room in the lower level of the library will be transformed into a train station and participants will board the makeshift Polar Express train. “The kids will board the Polar Express and hear a couple of stories before they get chocolate milk and treats,” said Rena Wright, children’s reference librarian and young adult coordinator at Orrville Public Library. “We encourage the kids to come in their pajamas. We do have limited seating so we also encourage parents to call the library to get tickets,” Wright said. Around 80 kids every year get to participate in the Polar Express night. Santa Claus will also be stopping by for pictures with the kids and to hear this year’s wish lists. The gingerbread house is a make it and take it event. Kids, kindergarten through 4th grade, come in and make a gingerbread house that they get to take home with them. The library can take 20 kids per session so Wright recommends calling now to get registered. Reindeer Games is an event filled with stories with Christmas and reindeer themes. This event can also take 20 kids per session and registration is needed and open now. “The holidays are always so busy for parents. We try to keep the kids active and busy throughout the season,” Wright said.
