Summary: There were horses of all sizes, ages, colors, and breeds on the Tuscarawas County Fairgrounds during the annual Junior Fair horse shows, where riders competed in every type of event imaginable. One thing that the Tuscarawas County Fair is not short on is the range of horse shows that take place on the fairgrounds during the annual Sept. event. There are production classes to show off younger horses; the Western show with its horsemanship, pleasure, egg and spoon and other events that show how well the rider and horse work together; the Junior Fair Contest with its timed events, pole bending, barrels, and reigning in patterns; the faster moving English show, with an emphasis on equitation and showmanship in the English style; a pony show; versatility show where the horse and rider go into the ring and show in four different events where they change back and forth from English to Western apparel and tack to see who is the best overall; ground roping contests; and finally, the Jr. Fair Horse Fun Show, where there are races involving drinking from a pop bottle while riding, going side by side with another horse while keeping a strand of toilet paper taut between the horses, obstacle courses, and the imaginative costume contest, where horse and rider dress in outlandish outfits.
