It takes a village: German Village celebrates five years

Teaser Story: German Village at Berlin was purchased by Bruce Hummel five years ago. From the lobby downstairs with the rocking chairs and the familiar faces of the members of the Do Nothing Club German Village is the way it used to be; filled with fine local merchants and the customers that make it possible. A one-stop shopping experience for many members in the community, German Village is excited to be celebrating their 5th Anniversary with a Customer Appreciation Sale that is as much a social event as it is a sale. “We see a lot of familiar faces and get a chance to talk to old friends,” said Gospel Bookstore owner Eli Hostetler. “This sale is our way of thanking the customers that shop here regularly and make it possible for us to be here.” It certainly does take a village to create a friendly atmosphere that has crowds lining up for big bargains, great locally produced food and an opportunity to spend time with friends and neighbors that understand the importance of supporting their local economy through continued patronage of the businesses built to accommodate their lifestyle. Come early and stay late. German Village Customer Appreciation Sale is here! Main Story: It takes a village, German Village that is, to make a community tick. One-stop shopping in Berlin does not mean a big box store with wide aisles and unfamiliar faces; it means a quaint country mall filled with shops that allow you to get everything you need under one roof. German Village is celebrating their 5th Anniversary and you are invited to join them for a Customer Appreciation Sale event like no other on Sept. 28 and 29. With 10 businesses participating in the event locals and visitors to the region will find everything they are looking for and perhaps a few things they didn’t know they needed until now. At German Village Market Manager Mike Yoder is dropping prices throughout the store as a way to thank loyal customers for their continued business. “We will have great savings on our products all week long leading up to the big sale,” said Yoder. “We will have drawings for free giveaways and complimentary samples of our new granola. There will be plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables grown on our own farm.” The Gospel Bookstore is offering in-store specials on all items in stock and an opportunity to win a free book, a video, a DVD and even a free bible of your choice. “This contest is nice because customers get come into the store and choose their own prize,” said owner Eli Hostetler. “This truly is a community event that allows the merchants to thank the customers that have supported them all year and year after year.” With the same ingredients as their name brand over the counter counterparts, Leader Brand products will be buy-one-get-one-free at Mast Pharmacy for the two-day event. Customers can enter a drawing for free merchandise as well when they stop in. Free ice cream cones will be available at the antique soda fountain with all donations benefiting the Lions’ Club and their Berlin Park Project.
