Jesus bought back for us what Adam and Eve Lost

Summary: Amber continues her series on how God is not to be blamed for the bad things happening in the world. I heard a story about something that happened to a very well known man when he was a boy. His family regularly attended church, and when his sister died at a young age, many of those church members came around and told him that God had a reason for allowing it. God must need his sister in Heaven. Because of him hearing those things, this guy became very angry with God. He said if there was a God, he didn’t want to have anything to do with Him. This person has become very famous and influential, but because of wrong doctrine being taught he devoted his life to being against Christians, instead of promoting the kingdom. Isn’t that sad? It is to me. And I see it happening all the time. One of my friends told me she was watching a popular Pastor on T.V., and after the Boston marathon bombings this Pastor made the remark that, “Well, God must have a reason for allowing this. Nothing can happen but what He allows.” She said she immediately turned him off, and rightfully so! I could not believe that he attributed God to having anything to do with that terrible event. Tragedy, devastation, evil, and other like words are used to describe such an awful act of hatred, and then people come along and link God to having something to do with things like that? No way! Why would anyone want to serve a God like that? Those bombers had a choice. They were inspired by Satan and chose to follow his lies, rather obeying the Holy Spirit, which I’m sure was also speaking to them, telling them not to do it. God is a gentleman, and as much as we would like Him to take over our lives sometimes and make the choices for us and others, He won’t overstep the free will He has given to each and every one of us. I think part of the problem is that most people think that if God wants something done, well, He is God; He can just make it happen, right? But unlike so many people who don’t keep their word; God will not violate His Word. Psalm 89:34 states: “My covenant I will not break, nor alter the word that has gone out of My lips.” When God says something, He means it. In Genesis 1:26 God says: “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” God gave Adam and Eve dominion over the earth, but they sinned and transferred that power over to Satan (Luke 4:6). God couldn’t take back that power or He would have violated His Word. Now do you want to hear the good news? Jesus came as a man and disarmed Satan of his powers on the cross (Colossian 2:15). Jesus gained back this power over the earth that had been lost and has passed it on to us (Matthew 28:18-19). Because He has given us His Spirit, we have exceedingly great power, the same power that raised Jesus from the dead! (Ephesians 1:19-20). We have power over the devil, because as 1 John 4:4 states: He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. James 4:7 tells us to resist the devil and he will flee from us. If we didn’t have power over the devil then the word of God wouldn’t tell us to resist him. John 14:12 tells us that we are to do the same works that Jesus did, and even greater works than that, because He goes to His Father. Now how are we to do the same works Jesus did, and even greater works than those, if He didn’t give us the power to do so? Unfortunately, few people have revelation of this incredible power and responsibility God has given to us. Hosea 4:6 says: My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. To be continued…
