Summary: Mosaic Connection is pleased to announce the return of Journey of the Cross, a seasonal exhibit that allows visitors to symbolically walk in the footsteps of Jesus during the last week of his life. Mosaic Connection invites people of all denominations to their seasonal exhibit, Journey of the Cross at Emanuel Old Stone Church located at 6000 Congress Road at Wooster during Holy Week. Visitors travel on a spritual jouney through 14 stations representing Christ’s moments in the garden of Gethsemane, through His trial and persecution and to the eventual cross. The exhibit includes works by local artists, artisans and writers that allow visitors an opportunity to walk in Jesus' footsteps during the final week of His life providing a closer look at the price of His sacrifice. “This is truly a Christian event that celebrates the most important time of year for believers,” said Melody Kirby, Mosaic Connection steering committee member and event coordinator. “The exhibit allows visitors in a small even minute degree to better understand what Jesus did in his human form.” The non-denominational exhibit includes a varied visual arts media collection created by Mahlon Schmucker, Pastor Dan Bartkowiak, Jesse Mathews, Dennis Lipp, Jack Nelson, Barb Koehler, Cindy Deppe, Edna Wade and Melody Kirby. “Each artist created a piece of art based on scripture of their choosing,” Said Kirby. “People are genuinely touched by the experience.” A moving audio track compliments the exhibit and offers a beautiful way to prepare for the celebration of the Resurrection. The journey concludes in a life-sized likeness of Jesus' tomb, constructed according to information provided by a team of biblical and archaeological historians. “Mosaic Connection is about outreach and hopes to bring people to Christ,” said Kirby. “We are so happy to be able to bring this exhibit back.” Once, an annual event the exhibit took a two year hiatus. “We have had so many people ask us about the Easter event. The more than 150 year old church atmosphere will add to the experience for those taking the prayer path.” The exhibit is open to the public beginning on Palm Sunday, March 24 and continues through Easter Sunday, March 31. Hours are Sundays from noon to 4 p.m.; Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 11a.m. to 5 p.m.; Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 11a.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Private group times for Bible studies, youth groups, or others may be scheduled by contacting Melody Kirby by phone at 330-264-0037 or via email at mkirby@sssnet.com. Do to the nature of the exhibit, it may not be suitable for younger children and Kirby suggests parents use their own discretion. The exhibit does require visitors to use the stairs leading to and from the basement of the church. Mosaic Connection is an organization which links Faith and the Arts.
