The Orrville Lions Club, Wooster Noon Lions Club, and Aultman Orrville Hospital are teaming up in the fight against diabetes with a diabetes awareness event Saturday, Nov. 16, from 9 a.m. until noon at Zion Lutheran Church, 301 N. Market St., Wooster. This free event includes blood sugar, blood pressure, glaucoma, and pre-school vision screenings, snacks, giveaways, information about diabetes, and door prizes. In addition, there is an optional one-mile walk (weather permitting) starting at 9:30 a.m. Local businesses will be participating along the route as well. Lions Clubs International is the world’s largest service club organization, with a network of over 1.35 million men and women in more than 214 countries and geographical locations. Known for its successful initiative in vision health, Lions Clubs service is as diverse as its members. The Strides: Lions for Diabetes Awareness program empowers Lions to join the fight against diabetes, which is increasing worldwide.
