A ninety minute round determined the final six players. This year’s tournament finalists included Alex Gray, age 11, of New Philadelphia, Tyler Grewell, age 15, of Dover, Ryan Haas, age 14, of New Philadelphia, Noah Hallman, age 11, of Dennison, Kaitlyn Menges, age 17, of New Philadelphia and Clayton Swartzmiller, the final round winner received a ceramic piggy bank, Monopoly Deal game and a certificate from the library. Second and third place went to Tyler Grewell and Kaitlyn Menges. Missy Littell, Children’s Reference Librarian, served as banker and official judge of the tournament, now in its fifteenth year at the library. “It’s my fifth year coordinating the monopoly tournament. It’s a lot of fun. I know most of the kids from the library and for some this is a second year participating in the tournament.” After the first round door prizes provided by the library including Monopoly games and Pictureka, a hidden picture game, were handed out to participants. The local tournament, one of many being held throughout the country, now qualifies Swartzmiller for consideration for the Ohio State title.
