In observance of the annual National Day of Prayer on Thursday May 1st, 2014, the Orrville Ministerial Association assisted by the Women Reaching Out Organization are planning a special “Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast” in honor of the Mayor and all public servants at the Orrville Y.M.C.A. from 7:00 - 8:00 AM on May 1st. The doors will be open for seating at 6:45 AM so that the event will begin on time. This year’s official theme is “One Voice, United in Prayer”. Reservations need to be made by April 23, 2014. The cost this year is the same as it was last year $11.00 per attendee. People are encouraged to register early because space is limited. This year’s Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast Planning Committee and helpers consist of O.M.A. members’ Brad Kelley, John Grandy, Sarah Ecker, Chuck Davis, and Jean Hurley of W.R.O. Also Lori Reinbolt, president of the Orrville Chamber of Commerce assisted the committee by getting the website registration sign up in place. Portions of this event will be filmed by Orrville’s “A- Channel” and shown at a later date. The Event will begin with a reading from Scripture and a formal welcome to all with a special acknowledgement of all who serve as public servants in Orrville and throughout our state. Mayor David Handwerk will be introduced by the current O.M.A. President, Brad Kelley. Upon his introduction, Mayor Handwerk will make an official proclamation concerning May 1st being recognized in Orrville as a “Day of Prayer” for our Nation and for our city of Orrville. After the Mayor’s Proclamation, a prayer of blessing for the meal will be given by Rev. Marvin Zuercher. This Year for the first time the full Breakfast Meal will be prepared and provided by Orrville’s very own Heartland Point Café. General Manager of Heartland Point, Valerie LaBuda will be heading up this important part of the event. This year’s menu includes their Breakfast Casserole Buffet with fresh muffins, bagels with cream cheese, crisp bacon, home fries and coffee and fruit juice. The O.M.A. will be providing fresh fruit as well to the menu. The cost to attend the event is $11.00. After the Breakfast, Rev. Brad Dews will be leading the attendees in a special prayer for our Nation and our national leaders. This will be followed by the attendees having a time of interactive prayer around the breakfast tables. Several area pastors will be on hand to help facilitate the closing of each of the five interactive “local area prayer segments”. The five local community areas that will be prayed for in light of Orrville’s 150th Anniversary includes: local government with a closing prayer led by Rev. John Mulpas, local Schools with a closing prayer led by Rev. Chuck Davis, local businesses with closing prayer led by Mr. J.B. Bryant, local Help Agencies with a closing prayer led by Rev. Paula Marbury and local churches with a closing prayer led by Rev. Paul Simonsen. Several other area pastors will be joining community members around the table for the round table prayer times as well. Rev. John Grandy will close the event in a circle of prayer. This year music will be led by Rev. Newton Brenneman. The Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast is open to the Public. R.S.V.P.
