New Beginnings Counseling Center expands its reach
Summary: New Beginnings Counseling Center, a ministry of Christian Childrens Home of Ohio (CCHO), provides outpatient counseling, and has opened two new Wooster locations at DayBreak Community Church and Church of the Saviour. The offices provide more options for clients who live in different parts of Wooster, especially for those without transportation.
New Beginnings Counseling Center, a ministry of Christian Childrens Home of Ohio (CCHO), is stretching its reach in an effort to conveniently provide outpatient counseling to community members. Though its main office is located on 2685 Armstrong Rd. in Wooster, two other offices have opened at DayBreak Community Church and Church of the Saviourgently interweaving the concepts of faith and wellness.
Counseling can help a person work through troublesome, private issues without the fear of judgment or retribution. For some people, it is the only time in their week that they have to focus on themselves and their own needs. Counseling promotes positive self-care that is crucial to mental, emotional and physical well-being. Many people attend to others without taking time to care for themselves, explained Dr. Jennifer Durham, director of New Beginnings Counseling Center.
The new offices resulted from a demonstrated community need and the interest from the churches themselves. Their locations are ideally spread throughout Wooster, thus reducing travel for clients, especially for those without transportation.
Both churches are active in community outreach, and they serve populations who may be interested in adding counseling through New Beginnings as they attempt to improve their daily lives, Durham continued.
A person does not have to be a Christian, however, to participate in counseling at any of the locations. Rather, the purpose is to meet the individuals needs while exploring issues and concerns in a meaningful manner. Incorporating spirituality and faith is up to the discretion of the client.
Additionally, Lisa Schott, grants and communication specialist and advancement associate for CCHO explained that New Beginnings Counseling Centers and CCHO are licensed by the State of Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, certified by the Ohio Department of Mental Health, affiliated with the American Association for Counseling and Development and accredited by the Council on Accreditation.
Moreover, Richard Frazier, pastor of DayBreak Community Church and his wife, Emily Frazier, who will be providing counseling services at the location, reported a great deal of excitement for the new service. The two also run the Wooster Hope Center, making their contributions to the community even more widespread.
I want the community to know that DayBreak does not exist for just the sake of our congregation, but also to help make a positive difference in our community, Richard Frazier said. God continues to bless DayBreak Community Church with new opportunities to help and show love to our neighbors through Wooster Hope Center and now with counseling. I look forward to see what door God will open up next for us. I cannot wait.
DayBreak Community Church is located on 111 S. Buckeye St. in Wooster and the Church of the Saviour is located on 480 Fry Rd. in Wooster. To schedule a counseling appointment, contact the main office at 330-345-6276.
I am recognizing a growing desire to utilize my faith to help others examine their lives, make changes and become healthier mentally, emotionally and spiritually. This inner drive is calling me to be a clinical therapist in the community where I can utilize my skills and offer the peace of Christ to those who are hurting, said Emily Frazier, who is a licensed independent social worker with supervisory status.
Further, apart from outpatient counseling through New Beginnings, CCHO offers adoption and foster care, residential care for children, intensive partial hospitalization, home based services, and therapeutic and community activities through Poplar Ridge Adventures and Stables.
