Ohioans from all over joining together to proudly say hi from Ohio in new campaign effort to promote the wonderful things their home state has to offer
Summary: The Ohio Division of Travel and Tourism has launched an innovative campaign to promote the friendly people and special opportunities that are part of the great state of Ohio, and people from all over are joining in the effort.
No doubt, you are beginning to see the round, red O signs with the letters hi in the middle everywhere you look. If not, you soon will, as the Ohio Division of Travel and Tourism has launched an innovative campaign that encourages everyday citizens to say hi from Ohio to promote all that their state has to offer. The round Ohio signs are being loaned out by the tourism and visitor centers around the state to individuals, groups, businesses, and organizations who simply pose with the picture, snap a few pictures, and then upload them to both their local centers and the Ohio Division of Travel and Tourisms Facebook pages.
The idea is quickly catching on.
The mission of the New Philadelphia Business and Community Association is one of economic development, business development, and marketing and promotion of New Philadelphia, so tourism plays a huge role for us. Visitors come and visit the outlying areas, and they also are visiting us, coming into our shops, dining in our restaurants, and they are going down to the Performing Arts Center, the wonderful venue we have here. So tourism plays a huge role for our economy and for our association, said Diane Lautenschleger, Administrative Director of the Association.
The Ohio says hi campaign is so much fun! It is so clever, and we are so glad to be a part of it.
Lautenschleger and other Association members were meeting to plan the citys annual Christmas parade when they took a break to have their picture taken with one of the Ohio signs.
Our NPBCA will hopefully, with the hi from Ohio sign, have our picture taken on top of the Welcome to Our City sign on the New Philadelphia downtown square in the near future, she added.
Tiffany Gerber, of the Tuscarawas County Convention and Visitors Bureau, is helping to coordinate the effort locally.
We had our sign at the Brigade of the American Revolution at Fort Laurens last weekend, and also to the Reeves Home for the Old Fashioned Ice Cream Social. We are hoping to do some surprise visits planned elsewhere to get some great pictures. Recently, we had our wonderful partners at the Bistro 131 and Lighthouse Bistro take pictures out at Atwood Lake for us, and also took pictures at First Town Days, said Gerber. We have a goal to still get out to all of the waterparks, and hit the rest of the summer as well as fall events, and all of our attractions.
This is an Ohio initiative. They want to populate the Ohio Tourism Division site with these pictures from all over the state, so anyone who wants to can do it. They just had a contest to submit your own familys pictures with the Ohio sign in some unique way. I am hoping they hold more contests, because it has really been so popular to do, and a lot of the local tourism bureaus have embraced it, Gerber added.
We are always looking for ideas. If someone wants to promote their event, and have us out with the signs, or borrow one of the signs for a special event, all they have to do is call us. Thats the whole point. Take pictures, and upload them to Facebook, so they can go on our Tuscarawas County Convention and Tourism Bureaus and also the Ohio Tourism Divisions Facebook, said Gerber.
Again, if anybody wants to call us, and says, hey, I have an event coming up, and we would like to use the Ohio sign, we can come out and do the pictures for them, or we can lend them the sign so they can upload their own pictures. Just call us at 300-602-2420 to make arrangements.
