Orrville Dispatcher of the Year Pam Morris shared stories with the Orrville Lions Club on Oct. 22, about her experiences over the 24 years she’s been a dispatcher in Orrville. “I’ve had the most heartwarming and heartbreaking calls on this job,” Morris said, “but it is the best job I’ve ever had.” She said she has handled the expected emergency calls, but has had her fair share of the interesting 911 calls as well. “It’s the dispatcher’s job to gather information quickly, so officers know more about what they are getting into before they arrive at an emergency situation” she said, adding that it’s important for people to use a land line if possible when calling 911, as it helps identify the address in case the call is disconnected. The next meeting of the Orrville Lions Club will be held Nov. 12 at 7:45 a.m. at the Orrville Buehler’s community room and will feature beekeeper Jim Tew. The public is welcome.
