Three Wayne County Schools Career Center school board members will receive Award of Achievement honors from the Ohio School Boards Association on March 5 at the OSBA spring conference in Ravenna. Only 58 of more than 3,400 Ohio school board members will receive the honor. Susie Lawson, Sue Williams and Doug Stuart have all been chosen to receive this award. Lawson serves on the Tri-County Educational Service Center Board of Education, Williams is president of the Southeast Local Board of Education, and Stuart is on the Rittman Exempted Village Board of Education. Lawson has been on the Career Center board for 10 years; and Williams and Stuart both for seven years. The award is presented to board members who have demonstrated dedication to self-improvement, service to their association and work on behalf of their own board. They are committed to training and leadership activities on their boards, as well as regional and statewide OSBA activities. In its 59th year, OSBA leads the way to educational excellence by serving Ohio’s public school board members and the diverse districts they represent through superior service, unwavering advocacy and creative solutions.
