Our sins and lawless deeds He remembers no more

Summary: Amber shares some amazing truths from scripture that you have to read to believe. I want to ask you all a question – Do you think that God gets mad and punishes you when you sin, giving you what you deserve? Do you think He holds your sin against you? Quite a blunt way to start off the article, isn’t it? I would guess that the vast majority would say yes to the above questions. If you answered that way I have to tell you that you are still believing that we are under the old covenant. Too many people have this wrong view of God just like I used to. You need to step out from that old covenant law way of thinking and step into the new covenant of grace that Jesus suffered and died for you to have. I’m going to give some scriptures that I am asking you to read for yourself and to meditate on. Don’t let the traditions and doctrines of men steal the truth from you. The gospel is the nearly too good to be true news of Jesus and I am tired of seeing people in bondage under the old covenant of the law when that is no longer to be in effect. Let me tell you what the new covenant deal is. Hebrews 8:12 states, “For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.” Did you see that? He will be merciful to our unrighteousness, and will no longer remember our sins. Wow, is that really in the Bible? Absolutely it is, and people need to know it. God being merciful means that He will not give us what we deserve. When we sin and deserve punishment, He is not going to punish us. Sure, there are consequences for our actions but God isn’t the one inflicting those bad consequences upon us. But wait a minute, isn’t He a just God, hating sin? Doesn’t sin have to be paid for? Sure he is just, and sin had to be paid for, which it was over two thousand years ago on the body of Jesus so that we can live forgiven. He has already punished Jesus in our place and the only people that will get punished are the ones who, at their end of their life, have not received by faith the free payment that has been made for them. The death that Jesus died He died to sin once for all (Romans 6:10). Sin has already been paid for, and God is not remembering our sins anymore. If He can’t remember our sins, then He certainly can’t hold them against us. Psalms 103:12 says, “As far as the east if from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.” David lived under the old covenant of the law in which his sins were held against him. He prophesized about the new covenant of grace in which we live when our sins are forgiven and not held against us. Romans 4: 7-8 declares, “Blessed are those whose lawless deeds are forgiven, and whose sins are covered; blessed is the man to whom the LORD shall not impute sin.” That’s us! We are blessed because God is not charging ours sins to our account because He has already charged them to Jesus’ account. What a contrast to the old covenant. Under the old covenant they did not receive mercy for their unrighteousness, and their sins were held against them, even sins they didn’t commit but were committed by the previous third and fourth generations (Exodus 20:5). Isaiah 54: 8-10 declares: With a little wrath I hid My face from you for a moment (referring to under the old covenant); but with everlasting kindness I will have mercy on you”, says the LORD, your Redeemer. “For this is like the waters of Noah to Me; for as I have sworn that the waters of Noah would no longer cover the earth, so have I sworn that I would not be angry with you, nor rebuke you. For the mountains shall depart and the hills be removed, but My kindness shall not depart from you, nor shall My covenant of peace be removed,”says the LORD, who has mercy on you. God will never be angry with you. God will never rebuke you. His kindness shall not depart from you. His covenant of peace will never be removed. I know a lot of people who believe the exact opposite to every one of those truths. If you are one that believes God is an angry God and gets mad at us you need to quit that thinking right now because it is contrary to the new covenant of grace that came through Jesus. Oh how I pray for hearts open to receive these truths! (Amber can be reached at amberdeemiller32@gmail.com, www.ambermiller.tateauthor.com, or through her AmberRiceMiller Facebook page)
