Some of your favorite local pets might be appearing on a calendar, proceeds from which will benefit the Wayne County Humane Society. The 2014 Couch Potato Pets Calendar was unveiled recently at Lola, Cheech & Mooey’s Natural Pet Market in Orrville. They sell for $5 and all proceeds will go to the Society. The idea for the calendar came from Jack Runion of Runions’ Furniture, who then invited the pet market to partner on the idea. Throughout September, pet parents submitted photos of their pets interacting on furniture. Of the 106 entrants, 20 photo winners were selected in mid-October and were placed throughout the pages of the 2014 calendar. Pet owner Angela Hall was named the grand prize winner, walking away with more than $500 in pet products, including supplies of food donated by Best Breed Pet Food, Zignature Dog Food and Fussie Cat. “The response to the calendar idea went beyond our expectations,” said Stephanie Wasniewski, owner of Lola, Cheech & Mooey’s. “Donating proceeds to Wayne County Humane Society is just our way of saying thank you to all who participated and everyone else for their support and encouragement in our first year of business.” The calendars are available at Lola, Cheech & Mooey’s Natural Pet Market, 133 N. Vine St., Orrville; Mrs. J’s Restaurant, 114 N. Main St., Orrville; and Comfort Kennels, 8790 Guilford Road, Seville.
