Summary: Farm Tour stop number one at Prairie Lane Furniture. Prairie Lane Furniture is located at 13390 State Route 39 Big Prairie and will be the first stop on the annual Holmes Farm Tour. “While the Farm Tour is visiting plenty of furniture will be on display to see and choose from, the company will be accenting the fact of how the they can make their furniture how each individual wants. This is their second year involved with our Farm Tour and we’re happy to have them open their doors to the visitors,” said Lauren Croskey, member of the Holmes County Farm Bureau. After driving West on State Route 83 from the starting point of the Holmes County Fairgrounds the Tour will begin at 8 a.m. starting at Prairie Lane Furniture. “We are a retail furniture store, full line of indoor, hardwood, and locally manufactured furniture. We really have everything in our store, dining tables, chairs, occasional furniture, couches, recliners, bedroom sets, etc. You can find just about whatever you need with us,” said owner of Prairie Lane Furniture, John Gingerich. Prairie Lane Furniture offers a very special type of furniture. Everything is all locally handcrafted furniture and definitely not just the run of the mill. While Farm Tour visitors visit the store they will be able to see the handcrafted quality furniture, touch the all oak, and see the quality product. “This is our second year participating in the Farm Tour and we are always willing to open our doors. Right now everything isn’t final but we are probably going to have a sale for the visitors on the tour.We will probably be handing out coupons for 5 percent off on their next visit. We like to hear feedback from our guests and the tour is a good way for people to see what we offer,” said Gingerich. Visitors will be shown how to personalize each piece of furniture by choosing the design, wood, stain or paint choice. They will be shown how furniture can be unique to their own taste. The business makes each piece of furniture in its showroom right on their farm. In the 3,000-square-foot retail store, customers can find more than 100 different wood products. “We picked them because all their furniture is made in Holmes County on a family farm. The fact that they have custom furniture, from picking things out of a book, to even creating your very own piece of furniture from whatever you want, they are a unique place to be,” said Croskey. The family-owned business has operated over a decade on the original family farm, and all handmade items are still produced at the farm. This makes the stop unique in the way that visitors on the tour can see what family owned farms can build.
