Rails to Trails auction – Too much fun for one day

These festivities are not for everyone. This is for people who enjoy live music, outdoor recreation, volleyball, cornhole, 5K races, bake sales, barbeques, furniture and craft auctions, and pony raffles. Who doesn’t like a good pony raffle? The Holmes County Rails to Trails Coalition is holding their seventh annual benefit auction on Friday and Saturday, June 10 and 11. This popular family event is the biggest fund raiser for the Holmes County Trail. The main event is Saturday’s auction, but the fun starts on Friday night. The Thumbs McGee Band will be playing at Hipp’s Depot, while volleyball and cornhole tournaments are held at the Fairgrounds. The music is free, and food is available. Friday night is the time to preview all the auction items, and make plans for bidding on Saturday. Saturday starts with the Road Apple 5-K for runners, or breakfast for everyone else. The main auction runs from 9:00 until mid-afternoon. Highlights of the auction include a locally crafted grandfather clock, an open buggy, mowers, furniture, quilts and commemorative items. Of course there’s lots of food; breakfast, lunch, and even a bake sale. For those who enjoy the Trail, this is a way to give back. For anyone else, it’s a time to see what all the excitement is about. Donations are still being accepted for the auction, and volunteers are welcome.
