The Ropp Family purchased The Dutch Host Inn in 1996 and immediately started making improvements to further care for the guests that visit the region. Once a 12 room facility, the inn now boasts 33 rooms in the quiet, meticulously landscaped valley in Sugarcreek. “Our guests feel safe here,” said Richard Ropp, owner and innkeeper at The Dutch Host Inn. “Older guests like the fact there are no stairs and they can pull their vehicles right up to their room doors. We get a lot of repeat customers because our guests are so happy when they stay with us. For first time guests, all I have to do is show them a room and they know they want to stay.” The inn features immaculately clean rooms decorated to reflect the country atmosphere prevalent to the region. Each room has a warm style that includes solid oak furniture hand crafted by local artisans. Despite the old world feel, every room contains modern conveniences that guests demand. Refrigerators, microwaves, coffee makers, TV’s, data ports, hairdryers and alarm clocks are standard in every room. “We choose unique quilts for every room,” said Ropp. No two rooms are exactly alike. We believe this makes the rooms homier and cozier.” The inn has standard rooms with two double beds. Rooms with two queen-size beds are available, as well as rooms with a single king-size bed for guests convenience. The Jacuzzi rooms feature a two-person Jacuzzi, a reclining chair and a king-size bed. Step up to a bit of luxury in the Jacuzzi room with a fireplace for the ultimate in relaxation and comfort. Guests requiring a longer stay and more space will enjoy the many comforts of home in the two bedroom suite. Situated in the rear of the inn, the suite provides the ultimate in privacy. The master bedroom is complete with a king-size bed and a 26” flat screen TV. The second bedroom features a queen-size bed. In the living room guests can relax in front of the fireplace or watch their favorite program on the 40” flat screen TV. A reclining chair and sofa offer additional seating. The sofa folds out into a double bed for extra sleeping accommodations. The kitchen is equipped with a refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker. “Because we are a smaller inn we have lower overhead and can offer our guests the best rates in the area. We are affordable and our guests appreciate that,” said Ropp. The inn includes a conference and hospitality room available at no charge to guests. The room is also available to those who are not staying at the inn for a nominal fee. “We like it that local groups can use the room even when they are not staying at the inn,” said Ropp. The room includes restroom facilities, a kitchenette with dishes, refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, two large flat screen TV’s, fireplace and enough tables and chairs to seat up to 50 people. “Everybody needs a get-away,” said Ropp. “There is so much to do here with all the good restaurants and shopping. We have beautiful outdoor areas for guests to enjoy in the midst of Amish farmland.” Constant updates keep the Dutch Host Inn fresh and inviting. “We continue to update and remodel our rooms for the comfort of our guests. Our rooms are handicap accessible and suit the needs of tourists, families and business travelers.” Conveniently located with everything Amish Country has to offer, The Dutch Host Inn is also close to other area attractions in Dover, New Philadelphia and other communities.
