Summary: The Wooster Hope Center (WHC) will be moving from its current location on 342 Nold Ave. to 445 N. Bever St. in Wooster. The WHC will expand its services and have more opportunities to work with the schools. The official move date is June 5 and a new schedule also unfolds with the change of location. As the community presents with a need, the Wooster Hope Center (WHC) responds. Most recently, the need has been additional meals for Wayne County community members. Not only this, the current WHC location is also home to Liberty Prep School, which offers a holistic approach to education, aimed at meeting the unique needs of its students. Moving the WHC to a new location will offer more school-based opportunities for the current location on 342 Nold Ave. “This is a great opportunity for the community, as we will not only be expanding services with weekly free meals and offering hygiene products through the week, but we will also free up room at 342 Nold Avenue to continue offering a school for Wayne County,” said administrator of the WHC and pastor of DayBreak Community Church, Richard Frazier. The WHC will be moving to 445 N. Bever St. in Wooster and will be occupying the basement of the 7th Day Adventist Church building. The WHC will begin offering the free meals on June 3 at the new location, but the official move date is June 5. The WHC will begin moving at 9 a.m. and would benefit from volunteers, trucks or an appliance dolly. Anyone with questions or interest in helping, contact the WHC by phone at 300-683-2242 or by email at rfrazier@woosterhopecenter.org Beginning June 9, the WHC will kick off its first official week at the new location. Starting Monday, June 9, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., the schedule will include services for clothing, the hygiene pantry and donation drop offs. On Tuesday, from 4-5:30 p.m., a free meal will be offered. Wednesday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., services for clothing, the food pantry and donation drop offs are scheduled. The first Monday of every month, the WHC will be partnering with Woodforest National Bank to offer the Financial Management Workshop at 10:30 a.m. The last Monday of every month the WHC will work with the OSU Extension to provide the Nutritional Workshop at 10:30 a.m. Haircuts are offered the second and third Monday of every month. The fourth Saturday of every month, the WHC partners with the Akron Canton Regional Food Bank to provide a free food distribution at the Wayne County Fairgrounds from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Lastly, the WHC offers biweekly backpacks of food during the school year to Wooster City School elementary students who are in an after school program. “I am looking forward to this move as we get to provide more services and assist with more social and educational needs within the community. This is only the beginning as more doors are beginning to open up every month and I look forward to some of the opportunities we have on the horizon. That is all possible because of the great support we have received from the churches and the community and I want to personally say thank you,” Frazier continued. The WHC has provided 3,500 different families with services in the past year. There are 1,000 volunteers operating without a payroll who make this commitment to the community possible. As the WHC enters the next chapter, expanding and stretching its reach, one thing is certain—the WHC will always remain connected to the needs of the community.
