Christmas is the season of giving and caring and there are many caring people around Holmes County. Numerous families around the county have Christmas thanks to Share-A-Christmas and without the many generous people and businesses, there wouldn’t be a Share-A-Christmas. Every year, Village Motors in Millersburg raises money around the holiday season to donate to Share-A-Christmas, but sometimes it’s hard to ask people to donate some of their money in these rough economic times without an incentive, so this year Village Motors went a different route. The company held a raffle drawing and the winning prize was something everyone can use in these harsh Ohio winters, a MTD Snowblower. “The raffle was set up at the cashier’s station in the front of the building and people that came in could purchase tickets for it,” said Brett Bell of Village Motors. This year’s winner was Jean Baker. All of the money from the raffle went towards Share-A-Christmas. Village Motors also held an employee raffle, in which several different companies donated small gifts, which were then raffled off to the employees. The employees also held a luncheon and donations from that were contributed to Share-A-Christmas as well. Bell said about $800 was donated to the cause. “This was the first time we’ve done a raffle like this,” Bell said. “I think Share-A-Christmas is a great idea and when there is a chance to donate and win something, I think it helps.”
