We are more than conquerors through Him who loved us

Summary: Amber shares how meditating on the word of God changed her attitude from one of being defeated to more than a conqueror. I take this column very seriously. It is my ministry; my chance to be Christ’s ambassador, to share His love and grace with a world that desperately needs it. I have many topics I want to write about, and sometimes wonder if I will be able to share them in a way that is understandable, yet powerfully conveys the truth. I do try hard to rest in the Lord and allow Him to speak through me because I know on my own I can’t do this. Today I was putting pressure on myself because of a major topic I want to write about. I was feeling inadequate for the task at hand. I had trust in God to speak to me but not trust in myself to hear Him. I had a lot of doubt in myself. I even said aloud one time, “God, I know you want me to get the word out more than I do, I just don’t know if I will be able to say it right.” Then the Holy Spirit started bringing scripture to my mind. He reminded me of Romans 8:37, which says: Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. I started meditating on that verse, and faith rose up on the inside of me. I began wondering why I was acting so defeated when I had the one who conquered death living on the inside of me! And I realized I was looking at myself and my abilities, instead of who is in me and HIS abilities. I am more than a conqueror through Christ! I remember about a year ago when this verse really came alive to me. I had read it several times before, but that morning while reading my Bible I saw it differently. It hit me that these were not just mere words; this was the truth, the inspired Word of God. I looked up the meaning of conqueror, and it said a person who conquerors or vanquishes; victor. Wow, I am more than a victor through Christ! How powerful! It would have been incredible enough if it would have just said we were a conqueror, or victor. But to emphasize this incredible power that is in every born again believer, it says we are MORE THAN CONQUERORS! Can’t you just hear God speaking through this verse to every believer, saying “Don’t limit what I am able to do through you! Don’t have a defeated attitude. Don’t look to yourself and your own abilities, but look to Me and my incredible power. Through Me, you are not just the victor, but you are even more than that! I am able to do exceedingly, abundantly, BEYOND all you ask or imagine according to my power at work within you!” (Ephesians 3:20) I can’t stress how important it is to renew our minds to the incredible truths that the Word of God says about us. Just meditating on those two verses caused a complete transformation in my attitude. Romans 12:2 says that renewing our mind will transform us and that is so very true! I went from fear, to confidence. From relying on my own strength to relying on the one who gives me strength, the one that I can do all things through. Instead of looking at myself in the natural, I started seeing myself in the spirit. I now have the spirit of Jesus living inside of me (Galatians 4:6). I have the mind of Christ in my spirit (First Corinthians 2:16), and as Jesus is, so am I in this world! (First John 4:17). I want to encourage you to start seeing yourself as the conqueror, not the conquered; the victor, not the victim. Meditate on these scriptures until they become as real to you as they did to me. Know that you have the Spirit of the living God inside of you, and nothing is impossible! (Questions or comments? Amber can be reached at amberdeemiller32@gmail.com)
