Summary: The Wooster Hope Center (WHC) is again partnering with churches and organizations to offer the Community Easter Dinner on March 29 at the Knights of Columbus in Wooster. The event’s purpose is to promote fellowship and community unity. Every season, the Wooster Hope Center (WHC) hosts a community event to cultivate a sense of camaraderie. Spring is no exception, and it arrives with the Community Easter Dinner, which will be held at the Knights of Columbus, 132 S. Buckeye St. in Wooster, on March 29 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event is open to anyone from Wayne County. The WHC provides hygiene items, clothing, food distributions and workshops for Wayne County residents. “The purpose of the Easter dinner is to bring the community together, to break bread together and to fellowship with each other. The Wooster Hope Center hopes to accomplish this all by uniting with our community partners to be a blessing to our families, friends and neighbors,” said WHC administrator and DayBreak Community church pastor Richard Frazier. The meal returns for the third year in a row with the same theme of collaboration. The churches joining forces with the WHC include Wooster Church of the Nazarene, Grace Church, DayBreak Community Church, Parkview Christian Church, West Hill Baptist Church and St. Mary's Catholic Church. Participating organizations include Knights of Columbus, Bullyz BBQ, Pierce’s Sporting Goods and Kohl’s. Music will be provided by Jeremy Chupp and Dr. Dave will make balloon animals for kids. The thread of collaboration wraps tightly around the mission of the WHC. Currently, they partner with Woodforest National Bank and OSU Extension to provide monthly workshops. The WHC offers a social service fair during monthly food distributions. The social service fair hosts organizations like Wayne County Child Support Enforcement Agency, STEPS at Liberty Center, ABLE and Help Me Grow. Any organization that provides a free service can contact Emily Frazier at efrazier@woosterhopecenter.org to participate in the social service fair. There are about 300 community members who attend the distributions. “Recently, the Wooster Hope Center has partnered with Liberty Prep School, which is a new charter school, by offering the space to have classes for students 6-12th grade with a blended online and classroom teaching style,” Frazier said. “I am very thankful for all of our community partners. When you see the name, Wooster Hope Center, it represents not a single church or organization, but a community. We are the means to make a difference,” Frazier continued. The Community Easter Dinner will serve 350-400 people. Baked ham, scalloped potatoes, green beans, salad, rolls, refreshments and homemade cake are all on the menu. “I would like to personally invite people to bring their families down to enjoy a free meal, fellowship with other people and be part of the community blessing,” Frazier said.
