Tim Hughes, a native of San Jose, California, started working in the graphics business at the tender age of twelve, working for a nearby sign store. Always interested in art, Tim jumped at the chance to develop his creative abilities, and the store’s owner gave him that opportunity. He worked at the store part-time, doing anything and everything, riding his bike to work. Later, Tim taught graphic arts at a school for developmentally disabled adults, and it was there that he fell hard for the school’s secretary, Kathy, an Ohio native. They married, and, in a venture to expand Tim’s on the side business screen-printing t-shirts, the couple launched WOW Image Group. Wanting a better place to raise their four children, the couple left their thriving California business in the hands of trusted employees, and relocated to Holmes County, Ohio. The area was perfect for their goal of purchasing both a commercial building and a home in the same town, eliminating exhausting commutes and big city hassles. “We fell in love with this area,” explained Kathy. The Hughes have never looked back in the five years since opening their Millersburg WOW Image Group store. In fact, in May of this year, they opened an additional location in Berlin, ‘No Place Like Holmes’. The Berlin store focuses primarily on tourism related items and gifts, but is planning to expand to feature a full line of shirts, jackets, and other items for Hiland Hawks fans. The store is also known for its line of t-shirts promoting the area’s tourism interests, including some with a comedic twist, all designed by Tim Hughes. “We also feature many different sports related items for Triway, West Holmes, and Waynedale fans at our Millersburg location,” commented Kathy. “We can do pretty much anything a fan could want, including creating a pro team look with tackle twill techniques.” The Hughes love working with their customers, from small local businesses to larger entities like Macy’s, Farmers’ Insurance, Walmart, Rotary International, and Kaiser Permanente. They pride themselves on producing top quality work, and a commitment to always delivering their product in a timely manner. “We do work for large corporations, health clubs, small businesses, non-profit and community groups, and individuals, just about everyone you can think of,” Kathy stated. In addition to screen-printing, embroidery, and all types of signs and banners, the graphics department can create eye-catching brochures, business cards, decals, posters, vehicle wraps, vinyl lettering, logos, and more. Customized apparel is an important part of WOW Image Group’s services, whether it be t-shirts, polo shirts, hats, or company jackets. WOW Image Group is also pleased to provide their clients with digital printing. “Digital printing is the wave of the future,” stated Kathy. “We recently added a Brother brand digital machine, meaning that we can print anything onto a t-shirt or other item instantly, and do it in brilliant, full color. The results are stunning.” The Hughes encourage their customers to utilize ad specialty products such as lanyards, mugs, pens, stress balls, water bottles, flash lights, lip balms, calendars, carabiners, memo cubes, clips, or anything else they can imagine. These items can be custom printed with whatever message a business wishes to convey. “A wise friend of ours, who is now retired from his own multi-million dollar business, tells us that he found that his customers always loved gifts. Giving small tokens of appreciation can build customer loyalty and promote name recognition at the same time. Use ad specialty items as small gifts,” advised Kathy. “We can now offer ad specialty items that are environmentally friendly, created from recycled materials. WOW also carries apparel made of organic cotton.” The Hughes also stress that they have the resources to find the best pricing for specialty items. “If you think of it, we can probably get it for you!” Kathy exclaimed. Wow Image Group has been impacted in positive ways by the economical climate. Clients are advertising more to attract customers and promote their businesses, and WOW has recently added to its own staff to handle the extra work. WOW Image Group can be found online at www.wowimagegroup.com. Their Millersburg store is located at 80 West Jackson Street, 330-674-1250. The Berlin store is at 4857 State Route 39, and can be reached at 330-893-0300. “We offer affordable advertising opportunities for our clients, and we are partnering with them to help improve the local economy,” explained Kathy. “Everyone wins.”
