Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital Auxiliary is planning another Tea in the Garden for Saturday, March 11 at Union Country Club in Dover from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Doors will open at 10:30 a.m.

The event is a fundraiser for the group, which in turn helps the hospital purchase needed equipment and supplies.

The brunch includes a speaker presentation, a seat at a beautifully decorated table, silent auction items, a cash raffle, door prizes, a mockmosa or mimosa with a cash donation and tea.

“The auxiliary members serve as hosts,” event organizer Bev Smith said. “They each have a table that they decorate beautifully with nice china, flowers and serving pieces.”

Tea in the Garden will have 20 guest tables available. The annual event served 120 guests in 2022, and Smith said that number should grow this year.

“We would love to have about 150 people come to Tea in the Garden. It’s a very popular brunch event that we have been doing for many years. Everyone seems to really enjoy themselves,” Smith said.

This year guests for Tea in the Garden should plan to wear a hat. “We’re having a wear your hat contest,” Smith said, “and we will award prizes for those with the most unique look.”

Tea in the Garden is sponsored by Williams Furniture and the House of Stones while Pam’s Posies is donating tulips for the event.

“There will be great door prizes and raffle items from our sponsors and members,” Smith said, “and things to buy also. Many of the tables are sponsored, and it will be a fun day with lots of great things to win.”

Wayne Gross, DO, cardiologist at Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital, will be the guest speaker for the Tea in the Garden event.

Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital Auxiliary is an independent, all-volunteer group that conducts several fundraising projects throughout the year. In 2022 the auxiliary was able to donate $190,000 to the hospital.

“The money we raise helps to purchase whatever may be needed in any department at the hospital,” Smith said, “or to help with other projects the hospital designates.”

The auxiliary is made up of close to 100 members who give their time and resources to help the hospital continue to serve the community. The auxiliary elects its own officers, and members choose the projects they will undertake during the year.

New volunteers are always welcome to attend any of the monthly meetings. Visit my.clevelandclinic.org for more information about the Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital’s volunteer opportunities including the auxiliary.

Volunteers at the hospital also can assist in areas such as greeting guests in the main lobby, nursing unit inpatient and outpatient assistance, in the gift shop, the caring canines program and more. Volunteering is open to anyone over age 15.

Tickets for Tea in the Garden are $30 and are available from Smith at 330-343-2231 or at Pam’s Posies, 732 Boulevard, Dover. The deadline to RSVP with reservations is Feb. 21.

Union Country Club is at 1000 N. Bellevue Ave. in Dover.
