Flash Dash and Doggie Fest return to Kent State Tuscarawas
Kent State Tuscarawas Alumni Association and Geib Funeral Home and Crematory are partnering for the Flash Dash 5K-9 run and half-mile fun run/walk at the Tuscarawas campus, 330 University Drive NE, New Philadelphia, on Saturday, Sept. 7.
Participants can compete in a self-timed run or walk individually or bring a well-behaved dog to join in the contests. Registration will begin at 9 a.m., and race time will be at 10 a.m.
Two division options for the 5k run/walk include a runner-only division and a runner and dog division. The half-mile fun run/walk is open for all including one’s K-9. All dogs must be leashed, vaccinated and tagged.
The pre-5k registration fee is $15 or $10 for students and alumni members. The 5k entry fee on the day of the race is $20. The preregistration deadline is Aug. 30. The half-mile fun run/walk registration is $15. All preregistered participants will receive a T-shirt.
Event-goers and pets do not have to compete. The event also includes a Doggie Fest for the whole family featuring furry paw art, a K-9 judging contest, a puppy photo booth, snacks and more.
Proceeds will support Kent State Tuscarawas vet-tech scholarships.
“Dogs are family these days,” said Chad Conrad, director of philanthropy. “We want to bring together the love of pets and Kent State Tuscarawas for a doggone day of fun and Golden Eagles pride to help make the future brighter for our students.”
