Main Street Wooster holding downtown fundraiser Sept. 25
Experience tastings of local foods and international drinks as Main Street Wooster presents its annual upscale fundraiser on Wednesday, Sept. 25 from 6-9 p.m. Taking place along the 300 block of East Liberty Street, this ticketed event will benefit the nonprofit mission to keep downtown Wooster thriving.
There will be a variety of hors d’oeuvres and drinks from locally owned businesses and live music from Standard Time Jazz. In addition, selections of alcohol and cigars will be available to those with a VIP ticket.
“We designed this event to showcase some of Wooster’s wonderful restaurants, as well as the local wineries, brewery and distillery,” Main Street Wooster Executive Director Shannon Waller said. “Our planning committee also had a lot of fun selecting some excellent drinks from around the world.”
The pop-up cigar lounge will allow attendees to receive guidance regarding the options available and the rituals surrounding this indulgence.
Kerri Manley, the organization’s project coordinator, said the event has added some additional local culture this year.
“Mike Jackson is one of my favorite artists, and he’ll be creating an oil painting during the event,” Manley said. “This painting will be auctioned off at the end of the evening, and it will be a unique memento of a wonderful evening for the lucky winner.”
Main Street Wooster presents more than 90 events and attractions each year. This fundraiser is its only event that is not free to the public, according to Guinevere Steensen, the program manager.
“If you enjoy any of our live concerts in the pavilion, the farmers market, Ladies Night Out, Kids Day or Window Wonderland,” Steensen said, “it’s important to show that you value our work by buying a ticket for Wine, Beer & More.”
Proceeds from the event also support long-term downtown attractions like Butterfly Alley, decorative utility box wraps and self-guided walking tours.
