There will be competitive 5k and 10k courses. There also will be a noncompetitive 1-mile run/walk, great for families and children. The race is on a flat, paved Rails-to-Trails path that starts at Hipp Station Depot near historic downtown Millersburg.

                        

Millersburg Food Run 5k/10k and 1-mile run/walk is scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 5 at 8 a.m.

The Millersburg Food Run 5k/10k is the Millersburg Seventh-day Adventist Church’s contribution to help meet the needs of Holmes County families. All proceeds from the race will be donated to the Love Center Food Pantry.

The Love Center Food Pantry has been servicing the needs of Holmes County since 1986. Nearly 1,000 families utilize the food pantry, and it has processed over 660,000 pounds of food a year. This Christian ministry is supported by businesses and congregations throughout Holmes County.

There will be competitive 5k and 10k courses. There also will be a noncompetitive 1-mile run/walk, great for families and children. The race is on a flat, paved Rails-to-Trails path that starts at Hipp Station Depot near historic downtown Millersburg. 

Register now to reserve a T-shirt while supplies last. Included in the entry fee, every race participant will receive a ticket for a gift basket prize drawing.

Gift baskets are donated by local businesses: Ace Hardware, AutoZone, Cleveland Cavs, Cleveland Browns, Handmade Cards by Stasi, Killbuck Savings Bank, Main Street Fudge & Popcorn Co., Olde World Bakery, Rodhe’s IGA Marketplace, Rozuk Radiology and Smart Style Salon.

Participants also will receive a goody bag containing materials and coupons from local businesses.

Register online at http://MillersburgFoodRun.itsyourrace.com/. Online race fees are $35 for the 10k, $25 for the 5k and $15 for the 1-mile. Day-of-registration fees are $40 for the 10k, $30 for the 5k and $20 for the 1-mile. Advanced race packet pickup will be Aug. 3 from 5-7 p.m. at Hipp Station Depot.

On race day one can register and pick up registration packets starting 7 a.m. at Hipp Station Depot, 62 N. Grant St., Millersburg. The race will start at 8 a.m. The 10k race will leave first, immediately followed by the 5k participants and then the 1-mile participants.

Snacks and drinks will be available after the race.

First place in each age and gender category for the 10k and 5k will receive a medal. Race categories by age are 13 and under, 14-16, 17-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-65, and over 65.

Parking is free. There will be parking at the station and overflow parking at Ace Hardware, Fox’s Pizza and Holmes Co. Employment Training. There also will be street parking nearby.
