Next Wayne County pop-up food pantry is Jan. 14
The Wayne County Health Department, in collaboration with the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank, will host its next monthly pop-up food pantry on Tuesday, Jan. 14 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the parking lot of the health department offices at 244 W. South St. in Wooster.
Individuals and families can receive food if their income is at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level ($30,120 per year for individuals and adding $10,760 per year for each additional family member). For example, a family of four whose annual household income is $62,400 or less would be eligible. This pantry will be drive-thru once again, so there will be no need to get out of your vehicles.
“We had the privilege of collaborating with the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank for the last six months of 2024 and fed 556 families, accounting for well over 1,300 people. We will continue to serve Wayne County families that need food in 2025,” Wayne County Health Commissioner Nick Cascarelli said. “We would also like to thank those who volunteered their time last year as we could not have done this just with our health department team.”
The Wayne County Health Department also is looking for volunteers to help with the pop-up pantries. They would need to be able to be there an hour before and a half-hour after the food pantry, in addition to the actual pantry itself.
