Patrons can check out blood-pressure cuffs
The Tuscarawas County Public Library System has recently expanded its collection to include items the public can check out beyond traditional library materials. Recent additions have included book magnifiers and LaunchPad tablets. Digital blood-pressure machines are the latest addition available to check out.
These cuffs were made possible by a kind donation from the Friends of the Library New Philadelphia and were purchased to honor board member Carol Fox, who passed away earlier this year.
“Since Carol spent many years as a registered nurse at Union Hospital, the Friends opted to donate funds to a type of material that would honor her long medical career in a meaningful way and also provide health information to the public,” director Michelle McMorrow Ramsell said. “These blood-pressure monitors are a wonderful way to commemorate her legacy, both inside and outside the library.”
The blood-pressure machines are housed at the Tuscarawas County Main Library, 121 Fair Ave. NW, New Philadelphia, but they may be placed on hold and picked up at the county’s Bolivar, Sugarcreek, Strasburg and Tuscarawas branches.
The Friends of the Library New Philadelphia is a 501(c)(3) that supports the library by assisting with projects, volunteering, holding fundraisers and events, and providing financial support for the library’s collections, materials and services. The Friends of the Library New Philadelphia welcomes new members.
Annual memberships are $5 for students and seniors, $10 for individuals, and $100 for a lifetime membership. Details are available online at www.tusclibrary.org or at the library’s customer-service desks.
