October is Perinatal Loss Awareness Month, and in commemoration, Pomerene Hospital will host its 2nd annual Walk To Remember and Balloon Launch on Sunday, Oct, 28 at 3:p.m. Perinatal Loss Awareness Month recognizes the loss so many parents experience across the United States and around the world, and informs and provides resources for parents who have lost children due to miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, molar pregnancy, stillbirths, birth defects, SIDS, and other causes. This Walk to Remember and Balloon Launch is open to the public, with special invitation to those in the community who have suffered a loss, as the lives of those babies will be remembered in a special way that day. The event will start at 3 p.m., beginning and ending at Pomerene’s Memory Garden, which is located behind the Pomerene parking lot (next to the Amish House). The event will also be used as a way to educate the public as to the struggle of parents who suffer a loss and will explain the bereavement program that Pomerene Hospital provides. For more information about the walk and balloon launch, contact Pomerene’s bereavement coordinator, Toni Mishler, at 330-231-8530.
