The Injury Prevention Program of the Holmes County General Health District, Standing Against Falls Coalition and Sycamore Run will hold the second Tai Chi on the Square in celebration of World Tai Chi and Qigong Day on Saturday, April 27 from 10-11 a.m. in front of the Holmes County Courthouse in downtown Millersburg. The rain location is the Life Center at 189 N. Clay St. in Millersburg.

This free event was created to promote wellness for Holmes County citizens, both young and old alike, through the introduction of various tai chi forms to aid in healthy living and falls prevention. The public is encouraged to attend and also to participate in tai chi demonstrations during this hour-long celebration.

World Tai Chi and Qigong is celebrated in hundreds of cities in over 80 nations annually on the last Saturday of April. One purpose of this global event is to introduce the health benefits of tai chi, which has been called “medication in motion” by Harvard Health publications for the health benefits it offers. Numerous studies point to the benefits of tai chi such as stress relief and improved balance, strength and coordination among older adults.
