Twin City Hospital is cancelling the remaining walk-in seasonal flu shot clinics that were originally scheduled for Oct. 28 and Nov. 4, from 9–11 a.m., due to the overwhelming response from the public. “We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause the public,” stated Marge Jentes, CEO of Twin City Hospital. “We have enough vaccine left to fulfill our off-site work-site flu clinic commitments and will have served 2,000 people by the end of October.” For those who were unable to receive a seasonal flu shot, the CDC recommends the following everyday steps for protection against the flu: cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze and throw away the tissue; wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after coughing or sneezing (alcohol-based hand cleaners are also effective); avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth; try to avoid close contact with sick people; and stay home if you are sick until at least 24 hours after you no longer have a fever or signs of a fever.
