Free Mohican Arts and Crafts Festival is May 27
The Mohican Arts & Crafts Festival will take place Saturday, May 27 in Central Park in downtown Loudonville.
The annual event, which is free and features artisans and craftsmen selling their handmade items, will begin at 10 a.m. and finish at 5 p.m.
“It’s a fun event for the family,” Loudonville Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Valerie Spreng said. “There are all different kinds of vendors there. There’s something for everybody. There’s stuff that the kids will like. There’s stuff that mom and dad will like.
“It’d be fun for them just to get out of the house and enjoy the weather and enjoy the vendors and check out stuff with their family and make a day of it.”
More than 50 vendors had already signed up to sell items at the festival as of May 16. Spreng said vendors are coming from all over Ohio. Some local vendors also will be there.
Some of the handmade items that will be for sale are watercolor and acrylic paintings, wood signs, baked goods, jewelry, stained glass, tote bags, blankets, candles, leather belts and purses, wreaths, cutting boards, birdhouses, windchimes, and plants.
There also will be several food trucks selling a variety of items at the festival.
Whenever Loudonville hosts an event such as the Mohican Arts & Crafts Festival, local businesses see a boost in sales.
“When we have events like this, it brings people to the event, but then they also walk downtown and go to the stores downtown and shop and that kind of stuff, too,” Spreng said. “It helps the stores that are downtown and the community as well.”
