HCA holding auditions for 'Oliver!' April 15-19
Holmes Center for the Arts will perform Lionel Bart’s Broadway musical “Oliver!” on June 21-23 at West Holmes High School’s theater.
Presented by the Troy Miller Agency and Geo-Hydro Supply, “Oliver!” is the story of a malnourished orphan in a workhouse who becomes the neglected apprentice of an undertaker. Oliver escapes to London and finds acceptance among a group of petty thieves and pickpockets led by the elderly Fagin.
When Oliver is captured for a theft he did not commit, the benevolent victim, Mr. Brownlow, takes him in. Fearing the safety of his hideout, Fagin employs the sinister Bill Sikes and the sympathetic Nancy to kidnap him back, threatening Oliver’s chances of discovering the true love of a family.
In-person or video auditions will be Monday, April 15 to Friday, April 19. There are parts for children and adults of all ages. Auditions are at Holmes Center for the Arts in Berlin, 5200 state Route 39, Millersburg.
Each auditionee should come prepared with a verse and/or chorus from a show tune. There also are script reading and dance portions of the audition.
If you can’t make an audition in person but would still like to be part of the show, email video auditions to grady.suggs.jr@gmail.com. If none of the above dates work but you would still like to audition for “Oliver!,” text or call Director Grady Suggs at 330-275-0639.
Performance dues of $75 are due upon being cast and receiving a script. Scholarship or volunteer opportunities instead of performance dues are available.
