HCDGC holds doubles tourney at Deer Run
The Holmes County Disc Golf Club had perfect weather on Saturday, July 27 for its doubles tournament held at Deer Run Park in Millersburg as 36 players, some from as far away as Sandusky, gathered to compete to see who was the best disc golf pair.
After the first two rounds, five teams were tied for the lead at 11 under par, but at the end of the day, the team of Justin Steiner and Joe Yoder pulled ahead by setting a new course doubles record of 23-under. Second place went to Alan Hilty and Matthias Hilty, a shot back at 22-under. Eric Marment received the award for the longest drive, and Richard Newman won the award for hitting the longest putt. Two disc golfers also scored aces on the day, with Glendon Troyer acing No. 8 from the short tee and Dan Hill hitting the ace of the day on No. 2 from the long tee.

The next tournament will be Saturday, Sept. 28at Deer Run Park. League play continues late into the fall each Thursday at 6 p.m.
