Holmes BDD to present Meet the Author with Phil Barkman
Phil Barkman’s book, “For Room and Board: A Memoir of Atlee Barkman,” will be the focal point of the upcoming Meet the Author series at the Holmes County Training Center on Aug. 31.
The Holmes County Board of Developmental Disabilities will host Meet the Author with local author Phil Barkman, editor of Just Plain Values magazine, on Friday, Aug. 31 at 2 p.m. in the Holmes BDD activity room. The event is open to the public, but a limited number of books will be available for purchase. Light refreshments will be served.
Barkman recently penned the book, “For Room and Board: A Memoir of Atlee Barkman.” The book explores the life of Atlee Barkman and the story of how a hard life helped to shape a young boy looking for answers into a godly man.
According to the author, Barkman’s life was a roller coaster of mishaps, misfortunes and adventures that were not always in tune with what God had planned for his life. He had every reason in the world to be a bitter man, but by the grace of God he went from being a rough and restless youth to being a loving husband, father and leader.
