Killbuck resident supports Harbaugh for OH-7
Letter to the Editor:
A few weeks ago I attended an informative Town Hall meeting in Walnut Creek with Mr. Ken Harbaugh as the honored guest. Harbaugh is campaigning to be U.S. representative for Ohio Congressional District 7.
The Feb. 28 Bargain Hunter had an article about this event.
Harbaugh spoke briefly at the beginning, but basically he came to listen to us as we asked many tough questions on many issues that concern us. I heard straight-forward and honest answers.
Public Town Halls where politicians or candidates can meet with their constituents are an example of democracy at work. They allow active, face-to-face political debate.
I understand that Harbaugh has been holding Town Halls and meet and greets around District 7 so that he can listen to we the people. I support Harbaugh because I believe he is sincere when he says "service above self" and "country over party."
I have seen him attentively listen to ordinary citizens when we express our concerns about health care, the tax bill, education, the environment, the opioid epidemic and such. I truly think he represents the values of his District 7 community.
I want to encourage both Democrats and Republicans to ask Mr. Bob Gibbs and Harbaugh to hold a few public debates this summer before the election in November. A public debate between candidates also is important for democracy.
