After stepping in and leading the Garaway girls basketball team to four consecutive winning campaigns, the road to Garaway High School simply became too much for Tracy Miller.

On March 25, the longtime hoops coach officially resigned as head coach, citing the constant travel from his home in Akron to Sugarcreek every day as the key reason for his decision.

“I want to thank (Garaway athletic director) Chip Amicone and the administration for the past four years at Garaway and for always making me feel part of the Garaway community,” Miller said. ‘Most of all I want to thank all of my players and coaches for always working so hard and for their commitment to the program. I have met so many great people and families in my four years at Garaway. Thank you for allowing me to share my 300th career win with a great group of young ladies.”

Miller said Garaway High School, his players and coaching staff will always have a special place in his heart.

Amicone expressed his gratitude to Miller for his fine effort over the past four seasons, saying it took a great deal of commitment for Miller to make the journey to Sugarcreek each day throughout the winter basketball season.

“I have nothing but respect for Tracy and appreciate the time and energy he has given our girls at Garaway,” Amicone said. “He is genuinely a good person and a knowledgeable coach.”
