It was with great elation that I joined more than 300 people at Wooster High School on Wednesday to support the upcoming school levy. To see so many residents, students, staff and our school board members discussing this issue proved that we are, indeed, a strong community. Now, we must stand together and support our schools. What stood out to me was the positive discussion led by Superintendent Michael Tefs. Gone are the days of threatening parents with cuts should the levy not pass. Gone are the days of blaming others for the situation we are in. During the past 10 years, the Wooster City School District has cut $6 million from its budget. Administration staff numbers are down to levels not seen since the 1990s. Yet, the school district is operating with less money than it was receiving in 2006. What the presentation proved to me was that accusations of waste and irresponsible spending hold no value. This administration can be trusted. Now is not the time to abandon our commitment to this community. Please, get involved with the Wooster Schools Alliance and vote to support our schools. Lud Huck Wooster
