Wayne County Community Foundation recently announced the appointment of Jon Ansel to the board of trustees, effective July 1. Ansel will represent the Wooster area on the 18-member board.

A seasoned executive and civic leader, Ansel’s career spans over four decades of leadership in logistics, supply chain and community development. He joined D+S Distribution Inc. as the general manager in 1995 before being named president in 2003, a role he held until the company sold in 2024. During his tenure, Ansel steered the company from modest beginnings to a multimillion-dollar enterprise.

A graduate of Denison University with dual degrees in industrial relations and communication and fine arts, Ansel also holds certifications in purchasing and supply chain management.

Beyond business he has demonstrated a commitment to civic life, serving 18 years on Wooster City Council including as finance chair and president pro temp. He also contributed to the boards of the Wayne Economic Development Council, Wooster Growth Corporation and The Will-Burt Company.

Additionally, Ansel served on the board of trustees for Nick Amster Inc. from 1993-2020.

During his 10-year term as board president, he led the charge to privatize the organization.

Ansel and his wife Tina have been married for 45 years and live in Wooster. Together, they cherish time with their two children and two granddaughters.
